Maluti-a-Phofung Water (SOC) Ltd is a municipal-owned entity established in 2006 by the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality (MAPLM) in terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act (No. 56 of 2003) and the Municipal Systems Act (No. 32 of 2000).
We are 100% owned by the municipality, with our head office in Phuthaditjhaba, QwaQwa, and satellite offices in Harrismith and Kestell.

Maluti-a-Phofung Water (Pty) Ltd (MAP Water) is a municipal-owned entity established in 2006 by the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality (MAPLM) in terms of the provisions of the MFMA (No. 56 of 2003) and Municipal Systems Act (No. 32 of 2000). The establishment of the entity was a result of the implementation of the section 78 process followed by the municipality. The entity is 100% owned by the municipality, with its head office in Phuthaditjhaba, QwaQwa, and satellite offices in Harrismith and Kestell.

Our core business encompasses the complete water and sanitation cycle, from water abstraction, purification, and distribution to wastewater collection, screening, treatment, and discharge back into rivers. Our major customers include domestic consumers, industries, and businesses. The entity’s operations are guided by the MFMA (No. 56 of 2003) and Companies Act 1973 (No. 61 of 1973). In fulfilling its mandate, the entity relies on principles of value addition, development, environmental sustainability, knowledge management, and partnerships.
